Jack Daniel's Single Barrel project began filling in January 1997. As the name indicates, each Barrel is filled separately. Each Barrel will have its (reasonably) unique taste and profile. According to Jack Daniels only 0.5% of their whiskey would qualify to be used as a Single barrel. The casks usually come from the higher regions of a Barre house where, due to the large temperature fluctuations, the taste is better and the colour darker.
