After the whiskey has been distilled it is subjected to a process called "Charcoal Mellowing". Softening by means of charcoal. Each drop of Jack goes through a 2-storey high Barrel filled with bandaged oak, the charcoal. This process takes 5 weeks before the same drop arrives at the bottom, but this makes it a lot softer in taste. The strong alcohol taste is a lot less. A Golden move!
